juicy tidbits
historic house:

Santa Maria's house was courtesy of the divine generosity of Ron & Kathy Downs and their "Twisted Lock Alpaca Ranch".  Their house was built in the twenties by an Imperial Russian ballet dancer and silent movie star, Theodore Kosloff, who took his love for classic Russian folk design and hand-picked  each rock and stone in the place - on the six acre plot there's over two-and-a-half miles of stone walls! The perfect home for Ron & Kathy's herd of over 70 gentle Alpacas.

12 Foot Australian Olive Python almost steals the scene:

"Oliver", the 12 foot python that plays Santa Maria's Guardian "Hermano", is thanks to Ken & Mirna Clark of Clark's Exotic Film animals.  One already late night's shot involved draping Oliver around the neck of our male lead, Lendon and sticking them both into a coffin-like tomb... Pythons are nocturnal - which didn't seem like a problem until you realize that Pythons hunt and eat at night - and Lendon was just about the right size for a 12 foot snake who hadn't eaten all day - so we did what any other independent film makers would do... we shot and prayed.

remaking a myth:

The Vampyre clan featured in the kiss was the Snake Clan.  Unlike the Bat Clans, with their two little pricks in the neck, Santa Maria's jaw opens 90 degrees to strike her victims - tearing away handfuls of flesh... there's no such thing as a survivor of Santa Maria's bite.
